DO YOU QUALIFY FOR A HABITAT HOME?

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Habitat Homeowner.

APPLYING TO BECOME A PARTNER FAMILY

In order for a family to be able to purchase a home from Habitat, they must be "adopted" as a partner family homeowner. Once adopted, the partner family is expected to participate in the Family Education workshops provided by Habitat, and to help with the construction of the house currently being built. Partner families earn "sweat equity" hours by assisting Habitat in building or other types of approved work. A partner family must earn a total of 500 sweat equity hours. All hours must have been earned before the family moves in.

Included on the application form are family history information, landlord/renting information, and employment and public assistance verification. After receiving the completed application and supporting documents, the Family Selection Committee of Habitat evaluates the need for housing and makes credit checks on the potential partner family. They also conduct in-home interviews in order to best understand the housing situation.

If you have lived in this county AT LEAST ONE FULL YEAR, we invite you to contact our office (either by email, telephone or personally stopping in the office) to receive our "Contact Letter."

After filling out the contact letter, please return it to the Habitat office so we may make further contact with you for assistance in starting the application process.
